STRENGTH AND RESISTANCE
MALOSSI CRANKSHAFTS FOR VESPA
The Malossi technical office has dedicated its attention to both of these elements, creating two versions of the crankshaft and developing unique solutions with a high technological value, starting with the choice ofĀ materials; top quality as always.
All Malossi crankshafts for Vespa are made from aeronautical qualityĀ reinforced steelĀ and are founded in a vacuum. It is a material highly resistant to scratches and guaranteed by the certifications required in Malossi's strict handbook. TheĀ "viper head" piston rod's shapeĀ is designed to limit weight to a minimum whilst guaranteeing theĀ required rigidity.
Not even the smallest detail has been overlooked. Indeed, Malossi technicians have even worked on theĀ threadĀ on the transmission side axis of the crankshaft, succeeding in significantly increasing resistance by producingĀ smoother stepping. Even theĀ position of the keyĀ has been reviewed both in terms of size and shape, so as toĀ no longer damage the threadĀ and contribute to resistance in what is an avant-garde solution. Crankshafts are supplied withĀ special nuts, much stronger, to take advantage of the increased resistance offered by the tighter thread.
DIFFERENT VERSIONS
Crankshafts are available withĀ different piston rod lengthsĀ for "small frame" Vespas, on to which theĀ full crankshaftĀ is fitted.
The shaft for motors with a rotating valve inlet has a standard length shaft and piston rod.
Ā
FULL CRANKSHAFT
TheĀ Malossi full crankshaft, designed only for Vespa motors modified for use with aĀ reed valveĀ inlet systems instead of the original rotating valve, is the next level for Vespa enthusiasts.
As with the rotating valve version, this version is also guaranteed to offerĀ optimal balance, having tungsten inserts. Furthermore theĀ half crank on the transmission endĀ has a specially-designedĀ chamferĀ toĀ ease fresh gas intakeĀ under the sump.
TheĀ circular mass structureĀ is the zone which benefits the most from this new shaft and sump configuration, receiving theĀ maximum possible pressure level.
Products reserved exclusively for racing in specifically designed locations according to the provisions of the competent sporting authorities. We disclaim all liability for improper use

STRENGTH AND DURABILITY
MALOSSI CRANKSHAFTS FOR VESPA
Ā
The Vespa crankshaft is one of the most delicate and fundamental components of this type of power unit, as it has to control both the movements of the connecting rod and the piston, as well as regulate the intake using the timing mechanism.
The Malossi technical department has paid particular attention to these two aspects, creating two versions of crankshafts and developing new solutions of high technical value, starting with the selection of the materials, which, as always, are of the highest quality.
All Malossi crankshafts for Vespa are made of hardened, vacuum-melted steel of aeronautical quality, a material that is highly resistant to scratches and is guaranteed by the certifications required by strict Malossi specifications TheĀ connecting rod with a āviper headāĀ has a sophisticated design to absorb maximum weight and guarantee theĀ required strength.
Not even the smallest detail has been overlooked. Malossi engineers have in fact been able to significantly increase resistance by using a finer thread on the axle on the drive side of the crankshafts The position of the spanner has also been revised in terms of both size and shape to no longer damage the thread and to contribute to the resistance with a modern solution. The crankshafts are fitted with special nuts that are much more resistant in order to benefit from the highest resistance that the densest thread can offer.
Ā
DIFFERENT VERSIONS
Crankshafts are available with different lengths of connecting rod for Vespas with a āsmall frameā, on which the shaft is installed with a full collar.
The shaft for engines with a rotary valve intake has standard dimensions for the length and length of the connecting rod.
Ā
SHAFT WITH FULL COLLAR
The Malossi shaft with full collar is designed solely for Vespa engines that have been modified to use an intake system with a reed valve instead of the original rotary valve. These engines represent the new limit for Vespa enthusiasts.
Just like for the version with a rotary valve, the optimum balance is ensured by tungsten inserts. In addition, the back of the drive side has specially developed bevels to facilitate the intake of fresh gases into the lower housing.
TheĀ circular ground structureĀ is the area that benefits most from this new shaft and housing configuration, as it receives theĀ highest possible amount of pressureĀ at all times.
Products intended solely for competition at the locations designated for this purpose and in accordance with the provisions of the relevant sports authorities. We do not accept any liability for improper use.
