Designed for MX, Enduro and off-road riding, the SM3 helmet incorporates advanced technologies and innovations designed to improve ease of use, comfort and impact protection.
Features
Advanced shell construction: this helmet features a thermo-injected shell incorporating a special blend of polymers enhanced by varying degrees of density, designed to offer the optimum combination of impact protection and lightness. The average SM3 weighs 1430g (ECE) and 1460g (DOT).
Ventilation: Maximised ventilation and high levels of heat transfer exchange thanks to 10 inlets and seven outlets.
Protection against rotational acceleration forces: Alpinestars' patented low-friction coating is applied to the inside of the EPS main lining to reduce the rotational acceleration forces that can result from certain oblique impacts. This layer essentially acts as a glide plane to mimic the brain's low-friction cerebrospinal fluid, which is the body's natural defence against oblique impacts.
Releasing the visor: The patented visor release system ensures that the visor is released with the correct pre-determined amount of force, effectively reducing the forces on the rider's neck during an impact.
Security
The interior and exterior surfaces are designed to minimise the effects of oblique impacts.
5 EPS inserts with 4 densities to effectively manage volume and performance in the event of impact.
Hydration tube channels are integrated into the helmet's cheek pads for added convenience and performance.
The comfort lining is made from recycled materials for a reduced carbon footprint.
The fit can be adapted to the rider's head thanks to the helmet's cap and cheek pads, which are available as genuine replacement parts in different thicknesses.
Protections
Alpinestars has introduced a new internal standard for the SM3 helmet to test the helmet's chin strap under more severe conditions than the homologation standard, and to meet Alpinestars new standards, both the shell thickness and helmet design structure have been optimised at the chin strap for superior impact performance.
The interior and exterior surfaces are designed to minimise the effects of oblique impacts.
Equipped with an emergency release system and removable cheek pads to allow safe and easy removal of the cheek pads while the helmet is still in place, while the 3D contoured foam ensures rider comfort.
The soft textile chin strap is 25 mm for optimum safety and rider comfort.
Stainless steel D-rings ensure a tight, secure fit.
The SM3 helmet complies with both DOT certification and ECE 2206 approval for worldwide use.
