Each spring is cold wound, heat treated, and then tempered. They are preset and ground to length before polishing; the ends are ground and the bodies shot peened to homogenise the stress. Polishing limits internal friction, and the part number as well as the spring rate are laser engraved on the end for quick identification during maintenance.
