Several styles are available (chrome or black covers, chrome or black springs and ends) and some models are road-legal — check the latest certificate for the up-to-date list. All shock absorbers are measured centre to centre of the eyelet.

Before installation, check clearances: on XL '86‑'15 it may be necessary to space or modify the chain/belt guard. A shock absorber longer or shorter than the original may slightly alter the rake angle and thus the responsiveness of the steering. For frequent use near the maximum manufacturer load, opt for the Heavy Duty option.
