The 412s are measured centre to centre of the eyelets. A shock absorber that is slightly longer or shorter than the original may alter the rake angle and steering responsiveness: be cautious of travel and clearances (swingarm / exhaust / belt or chain guard). For Sportster XL '86-'15, installation may require modifying or spacing the chain/belt guard. Heavy Duty versions are recommended if you often ride close to the manufacturer's maximum load (more than 50% of the time).
