Rather than reproducing the common unprotected needle bearing found on many OEM starters, Rick's has opted for a different solution: a double-sealed ball bearing combined with an output shaft seal positioned outside the bearing. This design limits the risk of water ingress into the bearing housing and facilitates the subsequent replacement of the sealed bearing.
