The characteristics of a cotton filter are easily summed up as: permeability, filtration, retention, re-use

Permeability: minimum obstruction for maximum airflow
Filtration: prevent penetration of foreign bodies
Retention: trap solid particles
Re-use: the cotton filters can be re-used thanks to specific maintenance products

These BMC air filters are designed for a specific to use and to be used with a prefilter (sold separately).
