The Tech 10 has set the standard for performance and protection in Motocross boots for well over a decade, with a constant focus on product development and innovation that continues to push the boundaries of performance ever higher.
While retaining the iconic look of the Tech 10, the latest iteration of the boot works tirelessly to offer the rider the ultimate in feel, comfort and overall safety, raising the ceiling of what a high-end motocross boot should be higher than ever before
The ongoing development of the Tech 10 has been guided by three key priorities, as the Alpinestars footwear technical team sought to improve overall functionality, performance and safety, reduce weight and decrease the volume of material on the boot. Maximising these priorities is the key achievement of the latest Tech 10 and the result is a much greater range of movement and flexibility, while offering greater control over bending and twisting forces which dramatically improve the boot's performance, giving the rider greater confidence and protection.
Features
Incomparable bending control
A revolutionary innovation for the Tech 10 is the introduction of the Frontal Flex Frame patented by Alpinestars. Combined with the two front and rear blade connectors, the Frontal Flex Frame gives the Tech 10 a complete and homogeneous flexion control system, from the shell of the foot to the tibia plate, allowing for a double control of movement that is extremely effective in avoiding hyperextension and hypercompression, thanks to the following elements:
Calibrated control of frontal flexion thanks to a dual-density TPU connection system that links the double-hook lower plate to the upper blade connector, hook and shin guard. Designed to 'float' freely between the lower and upper sections, the Frontal Flex Frame acts like a shock absorber, distributing energy throughout the boot's structure by controlling forward and rearward flex, absorbing and dampening impact energy.
Asymmetrical arms with double pivot on the boot frame.
Ankle control system
A unique feature of the Tech 10 is the ankle control system, developed on the outer shell, which allows natural ankle movement, vertical compression control and improved impact protection.
Double asymmetric medial and lateral pivot system for greater flexibility and precision in independent and synchronised movements. The higher position of the medial pivot reduces the volume of material in the lower area of the boot, leaving room for the patented ankle reinforcement system for greater freedom of movement and control. The reduced volume on the inside reduces abrasion at the points where the boot comes into contact with the motorbike, improving grip and feel.
Dual-density TPU rear blade system designed to prevent hyperextension by offering better flexion control and greater impact resistance.
DCHP - An innovation in heel protection
Inside the unique, lightweight, co-injected one-piece foot structure is the patented Dynamic Heel Compression Protector (DHCP), an innovative safety solution that features an integrated collapsible heel zone with expanded polymer foam to absorb impact energy in the event of a collision. DHCP features a directional impact protection system that significantly reduces the effect of excessive energy transmission that can cause ankle and calf injuries. DHCP has been used by Alpinestars athletes in the tough environments of professional Supercross and Motocross.
New internal ankle reinforcement
Internal biomechanical ankle reinforcement. A patented technology featuring
Lighter, more ergonomic lateral and medial torsion bars that are compact and offer greater range of movement and better control. Combined with the external structure of the boot, the ankle guard provides vertical and lateral protection against compression and rotation of the ankle and leg, as well as cushioning against torsional forces in the event of an accident, while guaranteeing great freedom of movement.
The double pivot system allows the Tech 10 to maintain its integrity in flexion, eliminating the need for alternative torsion bars for different ankle sizes, and above all offers progressive resistance to the vertical and rotational forces that can cause extreme damage to the ankles, knees, thighs and pelvis if not dampened in a controlled manner.
New compact pull-on design to reduce the volume and weight of materials and make boots easier to put on.
Innovative flexible inserts that integrate perfectly with the Tech 10 flex support system for maximum performance.
TPU cushioning to absorb impact on heels and ankles, with an ultra-thin, flexible forefoot zone for improved sensitivity and control.
Removable, two-component, ergonomic footbed made from EVA for improved comfort and support, and even weight distribution.
Ergonomic shin and calf plates
The Tech 10 design is slimmer and more aerodynamic, with a contoured calf protector that ergonomically wraps around the back of the leg. Made from a dual-density compound and combined with the rear blade system, protection is enhanced by the progressive damping of excessive torsional forces. The energy-dissipating shin plate has a new ergonomic design to reduce weight and surface area.
Integration of a single sole
Completely redesigned sole with exclusive relief pattern to improve footbed performance, grip and mud and water drainage. The unique bi-component sole is perfectly integrated into the multi-density foot structure with built-in support. The outsole offers improved durability, grip and feel while riding, as well as enhanced shifter performance. The central insert of the sole is designed with a micro-grip and a lateral grip. It is easily replaceable, and Alpinestars offers a full repair and respraying service.
Buckle fastening system
With optimised ergonomics and redesigned to reduce weight, the new three-hook fastening system is made from nylon and fibreglass for extra strength and durability. The new, slimmer buckles feature high-strength cold-forged fasteners for greater strength and precision. The locking system features a double safety lock and a self-aligning quick unlock/lock system with memory for easy, precise locking, improved performance and greater safety. All buckles are easily replaceable.
Material
An innovative, lightweight upper, the Tech 10's structure combines lightweight microfibre with an impact- and abrasion-resistant TPU shell.
Foot shell with five different compounds combined in a single lightweight piece to offer strength while retaining flexibility and structural integrity. The foot shell includes toe and heel protectors that are highly resistant to abrasion and impact, making the boot more durable overall. The foot shell has an integrated plate that guarantees support and structural integrity.
Double-locking front protector with microfibre inner flap, Velcro adjustment for precise under-hook fastening and easy-to-use micro-adjustment.
Soft microfibre edging to help protect against dirt and water.
The polyester lining with 3D open-cell foam incorporates a suede non-slip zone at the heel, keeping the foot in place inside the boot.
Protections
Integrated into the Tech 10's unique, lightweight, one-piece co-injected chassis, the patented Dynamic Heel Compression Protector (DHCP) is an innovative safety feature that includes a fully integrated, retractable heel zone with expanded polyurethane foam to absorb high impact energies during a crash. The DCHP features a directional impact protection system that significantly reduces the effect of excessive, potentially injury-causing energy transferred to the ankle and lower leg. DHCP has been used by Alpinestars athletes in the demanding environments of professional Supercross and Motocross.
The biomechanical internal ankle brace features lighter, anatomically redesigned medial and lateral torque arms that are compact and offer greater range of movement and control. In conjunction with the boot's outer frame, the ankle brace offers vertical and lateral protection against compression and rotation of the ankle and leg, as well as progressive cushioning of torsional forces in the event of an accident, while allowing natural freedom of movement.
A dual pivot system allows the Tech 10 to maintain its integrity while flexing, eliminating the need for alternative torsion bars for different ankle widths and, importantly, providing the essential progressive resistance to rotational and vertical forces that could otherwise be damaging to the ankles, knees, thighs and pelvis if not stopped in a controlled manner.
Dual-density TPU rear blade system designed to prevent hyperextension while providing better flex control and impact resistance.
