Dunlop presents the SportMax Gp Racer motorcycle tyre:
- Competition tyres approved for road use or track days.
- Official tyre of the Coupes de France Promosport and WERC GP Racer.
- The NTEC system allows riders to reduce their tyre pressure for extraordinary grip on the track.
- The Multi-Tread (MT)/Multi-compound blend ensures quick warm-up times, excellent braking stability, and unparalleled feedback over long distances, in all conditions.
- The carcass is designed to stabilise the sidewalls for responsive and smooth transitions between angle changes.
- The nylon casing and the continuous winding aramid fibre tread band prevent circumferential growth for less overheating and predictable performance under intensive use.
Road holding, braking, comfort... The choice of a motorcycle tyre impacts many aspects of your machine's behaviour, both on the road and on the track or off-road. It is therefore essential to carefully select the model that best suits your needs.
To help you gain clarity, here are some explanations to help you decode the information on motorcycle tyres:
- Dimensions: tyre width in millimetres and height of the tyre as a percentage of that width. E.g. 190/55, for 190 mm wide and 55% high
- Structure: radial (ZR, or R) or diagonal (B), both tyres must be identical in this regard
- Diameter: expressed in inches, e.g. 17 or 19
- Load index: maximum load the tyre can support
- Speed index: maximum speed the tyre can support
- M/C indicator: tyre purpose, M/C for motorcycles
- With or without inner tube: TL ("tubeless") for tubeless tyres, TT ("tubetype") with inner tube
In some specific cases, other markings may appear, generally associated with the tyre's trade name. Here are a few:
- A: Kawasaki
- C, F or GT: BMW specification
- E or B: Special carcass for heavy or loaded motorcycles
- G: Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha specification
- GTW: Heavy, fast, and powerful Grand Touring motorcycles
- H: Original Honda specification
- K: Very fast motorcycles
- M: Original equipment Suzuki
- N: For Aprilia, Honda, Ducati, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Yamaha, Triumph
- RF: Reinforced tyre
- WW: White-walled tyre
Other less significant references also appear on the sidewalls of motorcycle tyres (country of manufacture, DOT marking, etc.)
Don't forget to regularly check your tyre pressure, as it ensures longevity and superior performance!
