The Diablo Rosso III combines the latest race technology acquired by Pirelli in the Superbike World Championship over recent years. Pirelli engineers have further reinforced all these elements to provide a new level of performance for a supersport tyre which derives directly from that of the Diablo Supercorsa. The Diablo Rosso III strongly improves handling, absolute grip and performance on wet roads, while providing sustainable and reliable performance during the tyreās complete life cycle. Technical performance for Diablo Rosso III:
The sports bike handling gives bikers a strong feeling of safety and predictability of the motorcycle, made possible by the combined characteristics of the profiles and structure which derive directly from the world of Superbike competitions where taking corners quickly and cornering stability are fundamental.
First class grip, not only on dry roads, but also on wet roads, thanks to new materials
Absolute and constant benchmark performance over time, because the tyre qualities are durable and make it possible to appreciate and fully benefit from the tyre for its entire life cycle.
Tread pattern design for the Diablo Rosso III:
The tread design of the new Diablo Rosso III derives directly from the famous Diablo Supercorsa competition tyre, which was designed more for road use.
For the Pirelli engineers, it was important to keep the grooving, with the distinctive design of its flash on the tread, because it is a recognised symbol of sportiness and aggressiveness. All of the grooves represent the best solution for obtaining a certain density of the side of the tread, good full/empty ratio and excellent water drainage.
The direction of the grooves follows waves of wear orthogonally, stopping the forces that cause it, thus promoting more uniform consumption and reducing the stress to which the compound is subjected. The direction is also effective in evacuating water, high-performance even on wet roads.
Diablo Rosso III compounds:
Thanks to process a patented and exclusive process, Pirelli has developed innovative compounds with a high silica content compound combined with oils, resins and the latest generation of polymers, thus improving the cohesion of the elements, in order to reach an unprecedented level of uniformity.
The rear tyre is made of a dual compound, with a wide side part of the compound having high grip and a central part for durability. The profile is divided up in 40-20-40 proportion where the side compound, which is more high-performance, covers 80% of the tread, with the 20% remaining in the central part consisting of a functional compound offering stability and longevity.
With this arrangement, the side compound, which guarantees grip, comes into play right from the start of the leaning phase, providing excellent traction to give the biker confidence when leaning. This is possible thanks to the compound used on the sides which uses a 100% silica formula and provides all the grip needed on dry and wet roads. The side compound is supported by a harder compound which provides the tyre with stability and accuracy in holding the trajectory on corners.
The same compound, which in the lateral parts is only found in the substrate, emerges in the central part and covers a width of approximately 45 mm of the tread. This compound also has a high silica content compound (although it is less than 100%) and aims to ensure stability at high speeds as well as benchmark durability for the supersport tyre market segment.
The front tyre is single rubber with a silica content compound equal to 100% because only it can offer bikers true feedback as well as stability.
Diablo Rosso III profiles:
The profile of the front tyre is characterised by a multisection development which improves handling, giving bikers immediate lean and at the same time making it easy to make quick changes of direction.
Compared to that of the Diablo Rosso II, the profile is higher in the central part and wider on the sidewalls to provide a larger, more stable contact area when leaning.
In addition, the height of the sidewall has increased by approximately 3 mm to provide increased flexibility of the sidewall when accelerating out of corners, with improved traction.
The rear tyre follows the same pattern and is proud to present a geometry similar to that of the front tyre thus ensuring a perfect balanced and synchronised performance of the train.
