The cases lock onto the rack using a metal anti-theft lock; a lock adapter (often supplied with the cases) screws onto the back of the rack to accommodate the locking system. The supports also provide secondary protection for the rider's or passenger's legs in the event of a fall. The indicators generally remain in their original position, but repositioning may be necessary depending on the beam angle (see the installation manual).
