STRENGTH AND DURABILITY MALOSSI CRANKSHAFTS FOR VESPA
The Vespa crankshaft is one of the most delicate and fundamental components of this type of power unit, as it has to control both the movements of the connecting rod and the piston, as well as regulate the intake using the timing mechanism.
The Malossi technical department has paid particular attention to these two aspects, creating two versions of crankshafts and developing new solutions of high technical value, starting with the selection of the materials, which, as always, are of the highest quality.
All Malossi crankshafts for Vespa are made of hardened, vacuum-melted steel of aeronautical quality, a material that is highly resistant to scratches and is guaranteed by the certifications required by strict Malossi specifications TheĀ connecting rod with a āviper headāĀ has a sophisticated design to absorb maximum weight and guarantee theĀ required strength.
Not even the smallest detail has been overlooked. Malossi engineers have in fact been able to significantly increase resistance by using a finer thread on the axle on the drive side of the crankshafts The position of the spanner has also been revised in terms of both size and shape to no longer damage the thread and to contribute to the resistance with a modern solution. The crankshafts are fitted with special nuts that are much more resistant in order to benefit from the highest resistance that the densest thread can offer.

DIFFERENT VERSIONS
Crankshafts are available with different lengths of connecting rod for Vespas with a āsmall frameā, on which the shaft is installed with a full collar.
The shaft for engines with a rotary valve intake has standard dimensions for the length and length of the connecting rod.
Ā
SHAFT WITH FULL COLLAR
The Malossi shaft with full collar is designed solely for Vespa engines that have been modified to use an intake system with a reed valve instead of the original rotary valve. These engines represent the new limit for Vespa enthusiasts.
Just like for the version with a rotary valve, the optimum balance is ensured by tungsten inserts. In addition, the back of the drive side has specially developed bevels to facilitate the intake of fresh gases into the lower housing.
TheĀ circular ground structureĀ is the area that benefits most from this new shaft and housing configuration, as it receives theĀ highest possible amount of pressureĀ at all times.
