Cotton fibers are made up of filaments of different thicknesses, thicker towards the outer walls of the filter to capture large metal particles, and thinner towards the inside to filter microscopic particles. This method, known as "multi-stage filtration", ensures efficient filtration whatever the oil flow rate.
